Use random juxtaposition to get a new idea.
Using Wordnet web.

It sounds complicated but it's easy to understand but difficult to master.

I'm currently reading Pragmatic Thinking and Learning and if you're a programmer at the beginner level, this book is a blessing. I'm still halfway through and I've already learned so much. This is where I picked up the Random Juxtaposition idea. I've also come to realize the lessons in mastering skill acquisition not only applies to software development but also photography, creative design and so much more.

Anyway, back to random juxtaposition. It's a great way to jumpstart creativity. I've posted an image to symbolize random juxtaposition just to give you an idea what it's like. To learn more, read the book or google for random juxtaposition. I'm sure it will help you.

To help you build metaphors and connections, try visiting http://wordnet.princeton.edu/ and use the online Wordnet. It's a good library for synonyms and hypernyms. It helps you build connections to other words quickly. It also helps you discover related words that will help you get to what you need to use. It's a very nice tool for sustaining a chain of thought and text mining until you get to the perfect word.
