The Broken Poet

He was young and naive
And she was that way, too
They met one sunny day
And fell happy, deep in love so true

He wrote words for her
And they just smiled
The kind you'd likely see
Just from a birthday child

He thought she liked it
Or, maybe she did
But one day, she never showed it
All her love, she hid

She left him one rainy day
And drop by drop, he slowly cried
The million tears she gave to him
He could not, never hide

For she had another love now
And sadly, he had none
For nothing compared to this girl
His love, his only one

He was broken apart
And he could no longer write
He mended and he waited
And it all seemed alright

For he knew he was unwhole,
Unhappy, a broken half
And felt she was that way too
Through her talk, her smile and her laugh

He promised they'll meet again someday
And fall again, deep in love so true
Broken halves put together
And whole as one, no longer two

One of the saddest poems I ever wrote. Take note of the date. You will soon see more poems and you'll notice that broken heart verses were written around these times. Ahem.

On the first read, one will normally think this is about a boy who lost his girl to someone else. Of course, it is. It's based on experience. However, I wrote this to not only describe how I felt about the girl but also how I handled love. I did it poorly. Like a very buggy, unstable code, so to speak.

I was very immature (probably still the same as of the writing of this post) and as you can see, I did too much lovey-dovey poems and mushy-mushy talk. It's somehow part of a relationship but it shouldn't be all that but the young boy did not know what it really is because as a famous song says, smoke gets in your eyes.

And now, I'm trying to do better, keeping all mistakes in mind, trying to learn from them, avoid from walking the same path again. I hope this stuff works. Wish me luck.
